Empowering Youth Through Vocational Training

We celebrated the remarkable achievement of 35youth supported by Compassion who graduated from the Kenya Water Institute (KEWI) after completing a one-year course in plumbing and pipe fitting.

This milestone highlights the transformative impact of education and skills development, equipping these young individuals with practical expertise to secure sustainable livelihoods. Among the graduates is Titus Musyoki, whose inspiring journey reflects resilience and determination. Titus, a Compassion Sponsored Participant from the AIC Kanzinwa,
a Compassion Frontline Church Partner in Kitui County, Kenya, transitioned from humble beginnings to becoming a certified plumber. Supported by a Compassion Grant scholarship, he pursued his studies at KEWI, where he gained expertise in pipe installation, water system design, and sustainable plumbing solutions. His dedication and hard work paid off as he graduated with distinction. Titus’s journey is a testament to how education and vocational training can break the cycle of poverty.

Matthew 28:19-20

“They are prepared to spread the gospel, support one another, and serve as beacons of hope in their communities.”

For the past five years, AIC Kithyoko and in collaboration with other partners have been mentoring young people. Every year, the church sets aside a special day to celebrate and mentor youth and their caregivers, reinforcing the values of faith, responsibility, and service.

This initiative has become a beacon of hope, shaping young lives and fostering strong Christian foundations within the community. Through this mentorship program, AIC Kithyoko has nurtured both boys and girls under the themes “Worthy Warriors” and “Super Jewels,” respectively. This five-year journey has been filled with testimonies of transformation, spiritual growth, and positive life choices, truly showcasing the power of God’s work in the lives of the youth. The recent mentorship day, themed “Jewels for Christ,” was a remarkable occasion for both the church and the entire community.

The mentorship efforts have yielded incredible results over the years, including a notable reduction in teenage pregnancies, significant improvements in school performance, and participants securing placements in universities. Additionally, there has been a decline in drug and substance abuse among both caregivers and youth. One of the most significant achievements has been maintaining zero cases of school dropouts, ensuring that every mentored child continues on the path of education and spiritual growth. As AIC Kithyoko looks to the future, its commitment to mentorship remains stronger than ever. By sharing this journey, the church hopes to inspire neighboring communities to embrace mentorship as a powerful tool for shaping the next generation.
